MVIC frequently performs preclinical testing of inhaled drugs, including PK and PD studies. These studies are performed by the member company Truly Labs that has a broad experience of both animal models and lung delivery.

Last year saw a lot of projects where the test items were derived from the class of compounds usually referred to as new modalities. These can be anything from biologics such as antibodies or antibody fragments to peptides and nucleotides. Using all the competence within MVIC, we now master both the aerosolization and formulation of these new types of drug molecules as well as the notoriously difficult downstream analysis of these compounds in tissues including plasma. For example, one such method is stemloop qPCR for quantification of siRNA in relevant organ(s). Together with digital droplet PCR quantification of downregulated target genes, this opens for new opportunities to support clients within the pre-clinical development phase.
